Mental health care is my profession and a passion of mine; however, I like to think I do a good job of living a well rounded life with many interests! For me, the realm of psychology is best practiced from a solid understanding of history, politics, and sociology, among other topics. I strongly believe in the importance of advocacy and alliance with Indigenous peoples, people of color and the LGTBQ2 community. As psychologists, we have a responsibility to acknowledge our power and privilege and to use it to benefit the communities we serve. In my practice I strive to always be developing my cultural competence and responsiveness and to work from a social-critical framework.

Therapy as a tool for change is powerful and effective. I believe as psychologists we should do more to communicate this to the public. As a therapist, my passion lies in helping clients foster strong relationships and loving connections as the foundation for mental wellness. I’m especially focused on working with couples and families and I continuously work to build my skills in this area.

I love practicing, writing about, and learning about psychology, but I love nothing more than my family. I’m the mom to an amazing and spirited daughter and I raise her with my amazing partner Matthew. In another life I would have trained to be a horticulturist and accordingly I spend way too much time and money on plants, flowers, and gardening supplies. I love to quilt and bake as well. Basically, my interests garner me a lot of targeted advertisements for orthopedic shoes, but hey, I like what I like.

I include all of the above because the foundation of good, effective therapy is the relationship between client and therapist. I hope you find this site informative and helpful!
